Dear Brothers,

Today at the Christian Open-Air revival I met many children. Two boys in particular became my friends. Their names were Alex and Anthony, ages 9 and 8 respectively. In the photo, Alex is on my left in white and Anthony is in red. While most African kids just laugh and call us ‘Mzungu’, these two boys greeted me with a “Good Afternoon Madam”. They both spoke very good English, a result of their English teachings at St. Aaron. One asked if I had God and I replied with “Yes, He is in my heart, is He in yours?” He smiled and said “Yes, he is in my heart too.” That was the start of a great friendship. The questions and fun lasted all afternoon. They drew pictures of me in my journal (It turns out that I look a lot like a Masai warrior); They read some in my Swahili/English bible; and they had a try an some of my iPhone games. This 3 hours of chatting and laughing reminded me of the times I’d spend with you boys. At one point Alex, Anthony, and a third boy Michael (to the left of Anthony in the photo) even sang me a song. The lyrics went something like this, “I love you friend, I love you friend, You’re name is Lisa, I want to go to Americaaa, I love you friend, I love you friend, I’ll miss you…” If I was an emotional person, it probably would have made me cry. Miss you Brendon. Miss you Patrick. Miss you Carl.

Love,

Your big sis Lisa (and I “guess” this is permission to tie me down for awhile in November)

P.S. Here are some of their drawings…

This is me wearing my white bandanna and sunglasses, courtesy of Anthony.. See told you I looked like an African tribal warrior.
