The highlight of my
month in Kenya was:
A church service in
Nairobi with
A bunch of University
business students…
They were empowering
and awesome.
They spoke Swahili
and English and certainly knew how to dance.
My highlight was:
The power of my generation
worshipping one God together.
Except it was more than that.
I was the speaker.
My sermon challenged the students to give more through
radical living. I paralleled my life as a testimony and an example. (wow, just
typing that humbles me).
I mentioned World Race training camp and how the AIM staff
challenged us to do the same.
To live a radical life I had
to first give God my heart. That was training camp.
I mentioned how the disciples were asked to bring nothing of
excess with them to ministry, that they would be like sheep in a wolf pack, and
that the Spirit would tell them what to say.
To live a radical life I had
to second trust God 100% and give Him
control. That was surrendering to God.
I also mentioned Romans Chapter 12 where Paul says we must
live our lives as living sacrifices in order to worship God.
To live a radical life I had
to third worship God daily, giving up
myself for the kingdom. That is my life.
The
Citizens of Hope followed up my sermon with a song: Oh, How He Loves,
the David Crowder version.
Our
team was given confidence where we once lacked it… and we were able to lead the
students in the Spirit. Amanda rocked the drums, Kerry the keyboard and David
the guitar with the rest of us on vocals like we were a choir in an African church.
It was awesome, sweet as worship and prayer. This is how my team concluded our
month in Africa: United, we encouraged our generation to live radically.
Using synonyms for the noun
and adjective “radical”, our radical life for Christ can be described as this:
We are reformers for Christ,
fanatics for Christ, progressives for Christ with a mission that is
far-reaching, extensive, profound, and hardcore.
Wanna be hardcore?
