Disco- my three days in LA

I hopped off the plane at LAX

Santa Monica, Long
Beach, West Hollywood: what my 2 day tour of the LA area consisted of.

In Santa Monica, we
observed so-so and some excellent street performers, while noticing the theme
of dinosaurs and cool lights.

In Long Beach, I watched
fireworks off the Queen Mary with 6 of our team leaders. It was
neat.

On New Years Day I
went to
Saddle Ranch Chop House in West Hollywood with another set of squad mates.
Here is my description: Imagine SPORTS BAR plus country atmosphere plus
too many Christmas lights plus people playing
contemporary guitar and fiddle as if a mariachi plus
cotton
candy
“on the house” for desert.
I put my hands up; they’re playing my song

3:30 Texas time, I’ll return
to LAX for the last time, to check my 41 lb backpack for New Zealand and hang
out a couple hours more.

And as for the title, “Disco”…

No, I didn’t learn
how to disco while in LA.

Disco is a dog. He is
Keturah’s dog. He likes to play fetch and cuddle with me on the couch. He is
cute. That’s all… and deserving of being on my latest blog. And that’s Katie
Cartwright in the background. (:

Goodbye America and goodbye
LA.
