Expectations of my Mission Trip

For those needing expectations:

EXPECT- me to be changed.

EXPECT- crazy things to happen.

EXPECT- a messed up world out there.

These are mine:

I EXPECT God to show my squad miracles, I EXPECT Him to use us as the vessels for his love to shine through. I EXPECT Him to use me. I EXPECT Him to tear me down and build me back up. I EXPECT to cry, laugh and share stories with strangers. I EXPECT to get lost a time or two. I EXPECT to miss Texas. I EXPECT to doubt my calling. I EXPECT to have my calling confirmed. I EXPECT to make new best friends for life. I EXPECT to fear for my life. I EXPECT to have many opportunities to develop patience. I EXPECT to fall in love with other countries. I EXPECT to have pity on people, including ourselves, for our ignorance and selfishness. I EXPECT to come away changed. You shouldn’t be surprised. I EXPECT crazy things to happen. Be prepared. I EXPECT a messed up world out there. But I called to this for a reason. I am EXPECTED to see these things, and to have a burning desire to change them, to spread the love of Christ, to build schools, to educate, to heal, to hold, and to cherish every human life I come across on my travels.

We are often told not to expect. But I do. I expect. I expect the unexpected.

(p.s. expect… is such a strange English word. J )
