It has been many years since my brother has been gone, far too many. As I appreciate my family more and think of ways I want to honor them, I then think of my brother who is in heaven. He loved things like Star Crunch, basketball, babies, fishing, being together as a family, and most of all he loved Jesus. As most of you know, he died when he was sixteen in a snowmobile accident. I have never realized how precious life was until this happened. This is one component that l didn’t realize until recently that has lead me to do what I am doing right now. Since life is so short and precious a huge desire of mine is for people to know Jesus because at any time it could be gone.

However, while on the race, God blessed me with something huge.  I was having some time with Jesus praying to him and asking God to continue to grow my heart and asked Him where I should read in my bible today, but then realized that God started talking to me about my brother. God told me Derek was standing right next to him and Derek was so proud of me. He also talked about my family and how he couldn’t wait to meet my nieces someday. As I was listening to this I cried my eyes out because God had blessed me with a huge gift that day. When I least expected it he told he things that I needed to hear and especially needed to hear from my only brother.

Derek is in the best place possible and God desires to give his kids gifts and mine that day was to hear from my brother. Derek is in heaven playing basketball, hanging out with my Grandpa’s, Grandma, and my sisters’ babies that she has lost. What an honor to be blessed with a brother for nine years but what blessing it is to know Derek is in heaven.

I am so thankful for my family and 32 years ago he was born on the 11th of January and then later died on the 17th of this month.

Please know how blessed we are but know how short life is and that we are called to be disciples of Jesus… So go share the good news because life is too short..

**Side note**

My team and I will be leaving for Mozambique on the 11th to head to an orphanage in a small village close to Biera. Please pray for safety and health this month. Thank you for your continued prayers and love. Also, we will again have little to no internet so blogs will come when it’s possible.
Love you all,
