Jaimasi!!

It is how fellow Nepali Christians greet each other. Instead of saying Namaste, they say Jaimasi (jay-ma-see)! It means “Hail Christ” or “Greatness of Christ!

Last month living in India really opened my eyes to see how deep spiritual warfare is rooted in the culture. There are so many forms of idol shrines almost everywhere on the streets, in every taxi, and in every store. Everything is so spiritual engrained in the culture that I retrained myself not to get desensitize by the things I see daily. You become a big target to the enemy when you are bringing light into darkness for the kingdom of God. The enemy will always try to attack the body of Christ to hinder God plan.

Ephesians 6:12: We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Currently, I am in Nepal and God reminded me to put on the whole armor of God. Ephesians 6:13-17

  • Helmet of Salvation
  • Breastplate of Righteousness
  • Belt of Truth
  • Shield of Faith
  • Sword of the Spirit
  • Shoes of the Gospel of Peace

In the morning before I get out of bed, I consciously try to remember to gear up for battle as I get ready to walk the streets of the city to do ministry. Now as I walk pass by a shrine down the street or a picture of one of the idolized gods- I will say a prayer or a simple yet powerful phrase “Jesus Christ is Lord over all ”. It doesn’t have to be that deep but I understand that the power of my prayer and words can change and impact these surroundings. I might not see the shrines crumb in front of me but I know it is breaking down spiritual walls and the people eyes will soon be opened.

While on the bus, one of my teammates Annabeth had her bible in her hands. The bible caught a guy attention which caused him to ask her questions. In the conversation, we found out that he was married with a one child and he was a Christian. He want to be a pastor. Thankfully Nepal is an open country where you can openly talk about Jesus and not get persecuted. It was so cool to listen to their conversation. In the conversation … he said a Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

Did I mention Nepal is so beautiful!! I truly enjoy seeing God beautiful world creations. There are so many mountains surrounding the cities, it looks like a fortress where nothing can come in and nothing can go out.

So far, ministry in Nepal has been going into the slum areas to love on the children, teach them bibles stories, and play games.

We have had prayer walks around different Hindu temples. It is important to recognized the power and authority that Jesus gave believers. We hiked to one Hindu Fertility temple on the mountain top which had an additional 250 stairs. Talk about extreme leg work out but it was worth it! On the top of the mountain was an overview the city of Kathmandu. This was such a beautiful sight of the city yet my heart was saddened by the strongholds and bondage over the city. As I walked and prayed for the city, Holy Spirit brought 2 Chronicles 7:14 to my remembrance:

“If my people shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their lands.”

Thank you for taking the time to read on my update thus far on Nepal 2.0. I will keep you posted on the great things God is doing this month!
