Training camp is days away and I am super excited! I am ready to meet my squad mates , which I will be doing life with for the next 11 months!!! I have seen so many videos of post racers expressing how AMAZING training camp was for them! So Lord I am in full expectation that MY expectations for training camp will not get cut off! I am open… not only to receive from my squad and leadership team but also open to give my time, talents and treasures during the next 10 days.
There is a 99.99% chance that I will NOT have a phone plan while on the mission field for the next 11 months. That means NO, I wont have direct phone access to receive any calls. However I will still have my phone on hand /laptop and I will use that to stay in contact using WIFI internet access via Skype (if our location has internet connection) . With that being said, for training camp purposes, I will not have my phone during training camp. Unconsciously, I have found myself always checking social media and my emails and I don’t want it to be a distraction. In the past when I have gone on a social media hiatus, not only I have been more productive but also the time I would have spent on my timeline -instead I spent with God . As a result, I can hear Him clearly when I declutter different areas of my life including social media. So that means I will be playing catch-up but I rather play catch-up with friends than play catch-up with God!
In the atmosphere of preparing for training camp… one thing I had yet to do was to set-up my tent! Thanks to movies, setting up a tent looked sooo complex and personally I didn’t want to break my tent before I started the race. Initially I was going to wait until training camp to set-up my tent with the help of my squad. However, last week I went to REI to pick up a few items and in the mist of getting information, one REI associate offered to show me how to set-up my tent in the store. (SHOUT OUT TO REI FOR ALWAYS HAVING GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE)
Here is a video of me setting-up my tent for the first time! ENJOY!
