There are so many things God has place on the inside of each of us and deep down we know what they are. So what is holding you back? What is holding you from doing what God told you to do? Before I fully committed in going to the World Race – Procrastination, Doubt, Finances, Other Voices, Myself were somethings holding me back to fully submit to what God place on the inside of me.
Procrastination: Procrastination is a subtle killer of accomplishing what you are supposed to do. Procrastination is so REAL! I have pushed things back that turned into hours, days, weeks, years and then I realized time has gotten ahead of me. Do I hit the mark every time when avoiding procrastination? NO! However, what has kept me from procrastinating is looking ahead at the end results. The more I work on my goals, dreams, vision, the more I can reach to where God is calling me. Don’t despite in small beginnings. Take baby step, and when you look back you will see how far you have come along.
Doubt: I have doubted myself believing that I was not capable to accomplish BIG things. I have asked God “How I can do this?”, “Are you sure you want me to do this”. I am sure I am not alone. Steven Furtick said “If the size of your vision for your life isn’t intimidating to you, there’s a good chance it’s insulting to God” So there is a possibility that doubt or intimidation might come knocking at your door. This question is will you invite them in? When those thoughts come, God always remind me of Jeremiah. Jeremiah 1:6-8, when Jeremiah question God on his abilities. God response was “Don’t say you are too young or inexperienced because where I send you, you shall go. Don’t be afraid because I am with you.” When doubts come, override them with God’s word!
Finances: After I saw the video for the World Race, I was ready to sign up and ready to go tomorrow! Then, when I saw the cost of the World Race, I immediately close my laptop and thought this trip was too much for me! At first I allowed the cost of the trip to get in the way of my passion and desire to do world missions. Then God remind me that not only am I a child of his but he owns everything. When Jesses Duplantis was believing God for his first air craft for ministry, he said God told him “I didn’t ask you to pay for it, I ask you to believe it!” After I heard him say that, I personally held on to that Word from God. When I try to do things in my strength, might, and knowledge, it seems impossible. But God is telling me to just BELIEVE IT! There is nothing impossible for God!
The other voices: Have you ever told someone your goals, plans or visions and their response was not what you expected. There may be other voice that will try to stir you away from your purpose in life. In Luke 8:41-50 when Jairus encountered Jesus to heal his daughter. On the route to his house, Jesus encounters the woman with the issue of blood. Jesus was able to heal the woman but by the time they made it Jairus house, the people gave Jairus a bad report that his daughter was died. Imagine all those voices in his head. Jesus overheard them but ignored what they said! Then Jesus told Jairus to fear not, only believe! It doesn’t matter where the voices come from. If the other voices doesn’t line up with what God told you, you have a choice to ignore them, only believe and move forward!
ME (Yourself): Sometimes it is yourself that is holding you back. It is like playing the game of Double Dutch rope. For example, while the ropes are turning, I try to wait for the right time to jump in. Normally if I stand in place too long, I miss the ropes. However, there are times when as soon as the rope starts turning and I just jump in and catch the rhyme. Of course God’s timing is everything. But when God tells you to jump … JUST JUMP! Don’t psych yourself out! By just standing in place too long, you can miss the window of opportunity that God has set before you. Not only do you have to believe in yourself but also believe in what God said will come to pass!
Overall don’t let anything or anyone (even yourself) hold you back from the visions, dreams, callings, missions God has place on the inside of you! I am currently walking this out and I am confident and convince of this very thing that I will finish what God started in me and it will come to pass!
