After a kids’ program, as we were saying goodbye to kids and playing around with them, an older boy comes up to me with one of the girls (maybe his sister?) and he says, “for Christmas. . . a gift for Christmas. . . you buy. . . 30 baht,” pointing to the girl. They were being playful and laughing, the girl as well, but still trying to get away from the boy. . . whether it was a silly brother trying to get rid of his pesky sister or if it was a real thing these kids were used to. . . I don’t know. After witnessing all that we have concerning children being sold by their family into slavery these past few months, I could not help but feel frightened for this girl.
In the states if a sibling came up to me laughing and saying, “here, take my sister for $1,” it would be funny because he is wanting to get his sister that annoys him every day off his hands. . . but here. . . there is just a different reality. . . this boy could really know what it is to sell his sister to people for money or he could know and have witnessed those in his community doing this and want to imitate it.
My realities are being altered. . . truths are coming to the light. . . God is the God of Truth and Light. . . He is the God that reveals and the God that makes things known. . . my life will never be the same.
