Scott and I will have been married 2 years as of June 4th.  And you ask, how will we celebrate?  Well, we figured we’d have a wonderful day of debriefing with our team.  At least that’s what’s on the itinerary for us.  Not the most romantic or solitary of things to do on that special day, but hey, I guess it’s part of living in community.

We asked each other what we’d want to do for our anniversary if we were back at home.  We both said we’d want to Bridalveil falls, on the Coppermine Trail up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  That’s where Scott first told me he loved me.  And his dog Pallas was still alive and boisterous.  That was her last hike before she succumbed to bone cancer.

I don’t think camping would really be a special treat for us out here in Africa (since camping is an every other day event), and it got me to thinking about our honeymoon, where we spent a couple of nights at Adventure Suites, where the rooms are themed.  One night we stayed in “the Cave” where there were stalactites and fake bats hanging from the ceiling, and cubby holes for playing Nintendo, and hopping in a full jacuzzi.  The second night we stayed in the “log cabin” room.  The canopy bed was made of logs, and wooden bears climbed the walls, as well as having our own back door out to a fire pit in the back of the hotel.  I think hotels like that are amazing ideas, because who’d want to stay in the same room twice… I’d want to try every room (ok, except for maybe the Harley room).

But now we are at the mercy of the World Race.  We’re pretty much looking at having a themed room of our own, whether it’s in our tent, or in a room, the theme is Swazi.  We’ll be there through Sequoia’s birthday (also her 2nd) and Scott’s birthday (his 32nd).

Swazi will be more of a classroom for us (as far as we know), for a couple of weeks, then I guess we’re off to Botswana.
