Our first week in Romania, our team got to travel from Draganesti, a moderate sized town, to Lisa, a tiny remote village, for four days. Those four days have been my absolute favorite on the Race so far.

We were staying at a mission house that had no running water (just a well), an open, outdoor shower that consisted of a faucet on the roof in the middle of a courtyard, an outhouse (although it was infested by wasps) and bugs in Kelli's bed.
But you know what else it had?
It had the most amazing children for neighbors. ?It had community an amazing contact who brought us fresh jelly and honey right of the comb. It had people we went to pray for who provided endless grapes, tomatoes and the world'smost amazing bread, despite the fact that they struggled for money. Those people were the most realistic representation of a person humbling themselves before Christ that I had ever witnessed. It also had a church, that despite not over two dozen people, was very strong in their convictions.
I think that the best thing about taking away all of the things that most Americans consider "necessities" is that you can focus on what is really important: other people. I pray that everyone who reads this, whether in America or another country, is able to take time out from the distractions of life and really focus on those around you. I promise you, it is worth it!
