With just over five months left until Launch, I'm finding myself very preoccupied with pre-race prep (fundraising, camping gear, etc.) This stuff isn't bad, it's even necessary, but lately I'm finding myself reviewing my support account or my REI wish list a little too frequently. I'm afraid I'm getting swept away a little bit.

A few weekends ago, my church hosted a weekend advance (our word for retreat) for our middle and high schoolers. The theme of the weekend was "pause," talking about how important it is for us to take a break from our busy and chaotic lives to spend alone time with God. It was interesting to "teach" this concept to the students. It's talked about so much in our church community, but I pretty much suck at living it out.

With it being Holy Week, this theme has resurfaced. Good Friday is a heavy day that one cannot expect to prepare for during the fifteen minute drive to church that night. Yet, instead of delving into scripture or prayer, I find myself researching the pros and cons of toe-loops on chacos.

I need to center my heart and mind and remember why I'm on this journey. I pray that we, as the body, can seek to find quiet amidst the crazy, screen-filled, schedule-packed lives we lead.

Peace and blessings to all of you.
