That was the sum of my dinner the other night – meatballs, banana chips and cheese. Why you ask? Well becasue that was all I had in the fridge/cupbords. okay a little back story for all you – from Januray through May I have a pretty cool freelancing gig that requires me to hop on a plane and be gone fri – mon 2 – 3 times a month so I dont go grocery shopping all that much during theses months – hence the add food combo.
Anyway while I was eating my epic concotion of dinner – It kinda made me think about how God provides but its not always the way we want OR God provides in weird/ different ways. Like my dinner – I'll admit thats a pretty odd combination of food… but it was good and I wasn't hungry after I finished eating so it was what my body needed but it wasn't what most people would concider a 'normal' dinner.
So I tell you that to tell you this – Over the past months I've really been stuggling with how in the world I'm going to be able ot go on this trip. I make just a little more than the bills I have to pay and my freelance work isn't that stable all the time. Then taxes hit and I owed more than I thought I would this year. Yeah I was a little stressed out about money. BUT then I went to REI to look at gear and just wrap my head around everything. One of the guys that worked there took like 3 hrs and pretty much walked me through the whole store explaining everything to me and helping me understand what kind of gear would be good for me. It was awesome – at the end of our converstation he explained some way I could save money through some sales they were running and having a REI membership card. So I saved a good chuck of change just because he was the guy working at that time (maybe other REI peeps would have helping me the same way but still….) So I was able to purchase more gear than I though I would be able to that day.
Then a couple weeks ago was the deadline otobuy my ticket for training camp. Again no idea where the money was going to ome from – I had just drained my saving acount for taxes. So I was looking up flights and realized that southwest flies into Atlanta airport. I fly most southwest for my freelancing job. So I checked to see if I had enough points for a free ticket and I did 🙂 I was amazed yet again.
So I guess what all this means to me is that while I was hoping God would provide by just 'giving' me the money I needed – by getting a HUGE gig or by producing a money tree on my porch (that would still be awesome). He did provide by having me meet up with cool REI guy and giving me my freelance job a couple years ago so that I would have the points now for the free ticket.
Yeah Gods pretty cool that way aannnddddd I'm a fan 🙂
But most of all I'm excited to see how God will provide as this crazy adventure unfolds.
