Well I am just 9 short and busy days from the Philippines. I am super excited about the next year and everything God has in store, but a few things first.
(me and the Howen’s at my Change Party they so wonderfully hosted)
I have already received support from so many friends and family and I want to make sure I said thank you. My “Change Party” in Santa Barbara was wonderful. I raised about $250 in change! Thank you to everyone who came and gave and said goodbye. My last week in SB was wonderful and it was thanks to all of you.
2. I am still in need!
I have raised just over half in my account and have more in pledges, but I am still actively raising support. If you want to give or feel led to give and haven’t now is the time! I would love to be closer to my goal before I leave. Please give now! And to all the wonderful people who have committed to supporting me on a monthly basis, thank you again and please be sure to let me know if those pledges for any reason won’t be able to be filled. Click here now to donate, or on the left on the Support Me! link.
3. I will be in Carlsbad for another 9 days and would love to see anyone in the area.
Please let me know if you are in town and we should meet up. I am not working (gasp!) so I have a very flexible schedule. I’d love to see as many friends as possible before I go.
4. Pray for me and team Libre
We officially lost a member of our team last week. Ryan has decided that the race at this time is not what God has for him. His house did not sell in time and he will not be joining us. This is a hard thing for our team and makes a lot of the next year a little bit unknown. We now have one guy on our team and that could change so he isn’t alone with 5 women for a year. Please pray for our team as we move ahead in our preparation, and for the AIM leadership as they try to figure out the next step, and of course for Ryan as he is dealing with a huge unforeseen change in plans.
5. 9 days!
I officially take off on the world race in 9 days! I am headed first to the Philippines, where we will spend our first week in training and then move into our first ministry site. My team (and another team) will be working with the Philippine Christian Foundation. We will likely be working in schools that are set up in the Manila dump for the children who live there. We could also do health and skills training and many other things. You can find out more about the organization here.
