Did that title catch your eye? Good! Mission accomplished.
Today began our first day of ministry at Sarah's Covenant Home (a home for special needs kids in India). For those of you who don't know, the caste system is still extremely prevelent in India. Orphans are already considered the bottom of the totem pole so special needs orphans not even being completely cast aside. Sarah's home is wonderful becaue they currently have over 100 children in their care that have been taken out of government institutions. The care that these kids get at the home compared to what they were getting by the government is like times 1000 times better. (Check out their blog: http://sarahscovenanthomes.blogspot.com/)
Anyone who knows me, knows that I love kids of all ages. However, not all people know that working with certain types of special needs kids has never come easy to me. Also, I am also a self diagnosed hypochrondriac, so when you mix special needs with different sicknesses and sanitary conditions that don't meet my uneccessarily high standards, it makes for a challenging month.
Prayer requests for this month:
For me-
That God break the chains of fear
-Fear of diseases, uncleanliness, bad smells, etc
-Other fears that I have carried with me for far to long (ex. Not being enough)
-That I see the children and their caregivers through the eyes of God
For the ministry-
For the precious Children. That they can reach their full potential. And More! Pray for miraculous healings!
For the Nurses. These women spend 24/7 with these kids. Its tough for them to get past a culture that says special needs kids are unworthy. And caring for special needs kids can be very draining.
