This is probably one of the first moments in my life where I cannot picture what the year ahead of me looks like. I figured out that I am really used to a planned life. I usually know where I’ll be working, who I’ll be seeing, the ministry I’ll be part of at my church, etc. I can try to imagine what the next 11 months will hold but I really have no idea how things will pan-out.
I have no idea about the people I’m going to encounter, or how I’ll be changed or the injustice I will witness but I do know that God will move in a BIG way. I also know this is EXACTLY WHERE MY LOVING LORD WANTS ME. I’m completely relying on Him for every need. I’m in the palm of his hand, “resting in the shadow of the Almighty”. I do know that when “He calls on me, I will (and desire to) answer Him”.
**At training camp we were paired up in teams of 6. These 6 people will be my new family for the next year. We will eat, sleep, and breathe in the same space…we will explore, do ministry, have hard times and good times together. God has put this team together for a reason. By God working through us, we are to bring the hope, love, and the Kingdom of God to those who don’t know our Lord. I’m so excited to spend the next 11 months with…drum roll please……. Kathryn Gironimi, Carl Wilson, Katie Cartwright, Mike Schuerman, and Kristi Kaeli!! This 5 fokes are amazing and love God with their whole hearts! So much growth is going to happen in this team and I’m so excited! We named our team…Team 91. Psalm 91 has been a favorite Psalm for us and we thought it was very appropriate for the year ahead. Enjoy!
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling-
even the LORD, who is my refuge-
10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
and show him my salvation.”
