We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this mission trip. Here is what I’m expecting…

I’m expecting this to be a journey I can’t predict. So,…I guess I’m expecting the unexpected. My only true hope is to share Christ’s love like never before and to be radically changed by our loving Lord. I know that God has prepared my path and I’m excited to be used by Him and I’m excited to grow in Him. I can’t wait to meet my new family members and to go on this year long journey with them.

Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

 I “expect”:

  • To SEEK God more than ever before.
  • To face TRIALS of many kinds.
  • To lay all my burdens at the foot of the cross daily.
  • To GAIN new FAMILY members
  • To FACE FEARS… I never knew I had.
  • To enjoy this journey with God and to be RADICALLY CHANGED. Forever.
  • To MISS my FAMILY and FRIENDS dearly.
  • To PRAY with others and to see HEARTS and physical BODIES HEALED by God.
  • To lose my worldly ways.
  • To love each place I encounter and to miss the people when I depart.
  • To be STRETCHED by God.
  • To learn PATIENCE… among many things J
  • To travel long and hard to 11 countries.
  • To “brave” weather I haven’t seen in a while (extreme heat and cold??)
  • To LAUGH a lot.
  • To truly LOVE people.
  •  To experience the enemy during my weak moments.

“For we wrestle not against flesh & blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
– Ephesians 6:12

·         To experience NEW cultures, NEW food, and NEW languages. Yay!

·         To miss Mexican food!

·         To have moments of boredom on bus rides and to make up random games to pass the time.

·         TO WITNESS GOD-SIZED MIRACLES.

·         To hear Him like never before.

·         To see people give their life to Christ.

I’m excited to see what the Lord has planned! I’m sure the feelings of: exhaustion, doubt, certainty, love, strength, helplessness, frustration, concern, hope, peace, comfort, excitement, sadness, brokenness, and happiness will all come into play. I’m looking forward to this journey with God, my fellow World Racers,  and with my friends and family at home.**

The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9: 9-10
