You told me to
“Trust in My promises”
Like Sarah, I laughed in Your face
Like a cruel joke, I took in Your words
Yet You still chased after me
crying out the words of Psalm 81
“Open your mouth wide and I will fill it with good things”
I walked away
I continued to laugh
Mouth closed
So You picked up the Cross
along with my shame
and said
“I don’t want to
but I have to
To bring glory to His name.”
Little did I know that the glory would be shown through my life
Through my “yes’s”
Through my acceptance
Of Your promises
So today on this Good Friday
I stand and say with You
“It is finished”
I’m done with pride
I’m done with shame
I’m breaking up with them
Because I’ve found a Love
Too good to be true
But now I see
Now I know, the Truth
It’s You
It’s every word You’ve ever spoken to me.
You set me free
So I can receive
The fullness of all You intended
Now I know
It’s not “too good to be true”
It’s here
It’s real
It’s You.
So I don’t have to chase
You’ve always been near
Waiting eagerly
To pour out Your blessing
So here I sit
With my mouth open wide
Ready for my fill
All the while shouting
Of all Your promises
