What Do You See?

What do you see when you look at the world? The way you answer this question can greatly affect the way you live your life.
We
were asked this question a few days ago and here is the answer I came up
with!

I see the homeless and hurting when I look at the world.

I see abused and abandoned children longing for significance and desperately desiring to be loved unconditionally.

I see extreme poverty in almost every nation of the world.
There are around 1.5 billion people living in extreme poverty.
300 million children go to bed hungry every day. (nationmaster.com)

I see orphanages overwhelmed with the number of children being dropped off.
I also see helpless babies dying with no one to mourn or bury them.

I see deaf children in orphanages and homes in countries where there is no deaf education or sign language. They spend their lives unable to communicate properly, and they are often treated as if they were mentally handicap. SokLeap is one of these kids.  He is stuck in an orphanage with 90 other children who cannot communicate with him.

I see children dying of AIDS.  A child dies every three seconds from AIDS and malnutrition.  Most are under the age of five years old. (nationmaster.com) These kids will most likely not live into their 20’s.

I see women suffering and oppressed.  I know I’m stepping on toes with this one, but it breaks my heart to see it!  The Islamic law, Sharia Law, does not see women as equals to men.  Her testimony in court is only half that of a man’s.  If a women under Sharia Law is raped, she has to have three male witnesses to press charges! It is often also seen as her fault. She tempted that man and therefore he was led to rape her. This is only one of the many injustices that Sharia Law brings. Is this justice? Is this God?

I see many nations devastated by war and genocide.

I see people who kill in the name of God, and the oppressed who live under these radicals.

I
see little girls all around the world being kidnapped, raped, trafficked and forced into prostitution at very young ages.  This girl is one of the many high-risk children in Thailand.  Human trafficking is a billion dollar business, and she is just a dollar sign to some and a tool for others.

I see children without hope!
Africa alone has around 11.6 million AIDS orphans. (avert.org,2007)

What I want to see is a generation rising up to change this world!  A generation that will not turn their backs on the suffering and oppressed.  A generation that will own the responsibility of fighting for those in need.

The things I have seen in the world continue to break my heart and I’m hoping I’ll have the strength to continue to do something about it.
