This is a long overdue blog, but I needed to update everyone
about the craziness that has become our lives. As most of you already know, we were caught up in Bangkok
for about a week due to the protesting in the Bangkok airport. After much talk with our airlines, we were
told that we would have to wait about another week before there would be any
flights down to Johannesburg,
South Africa. If
we waited, our ministry contacts would already be heading home for Christmas
and we would be left without anything to do. Our only two options were to stay in Thailand for the month of December or take the
only flight out of Thailand
to London. The AIM office and our leaders decided it
would be best to get us out of Thailand
and have decided to let us spend the month of December in England. We will still be spending 3 months in Africa,
but now we will only be in Eastern Europe for
two months.
Well, I wasn’t too excited about the news. In fact, I was excited at the thought of
staying in Thailand for
another month and getting on the first bus down to Cambodia to see the kids! But nope, I’m not in Cambodia… I’m
in England,
where it is cold and rainy. The cold
weather wouldn’t be so bad if we weren’t packed for an African summer. Showing up at Heathrow airport in capri and
flip-flops was not my idea of fun, but I am thankful that we are safe. I also know and trust that God has us here
for a reason.
I am thankful that I will be able to spend time with Clair
Hoernig (a friend from back home) this month, and we are all very thankful
that she has set our squad up with a place to stay and an amazing ministry to
work with while we are here. Thank you, Clair, for setting everything up for
us! Unfortunately, due to the
sensitivity of this ministry I will not be able to post blogs about our
ministry or the organization we will be working with. I’ll keep you all updated on how we are
doing, but I’m sorry about the lack of details. Please just pray for our safety while we are in London!
