The past few days have been amazing!!
The Awakening: Dublin, Ireland edition, has just completed.
Like many of you, I did not actually, attend the Awakening, but I got to partake in worship, community, and teaching via the internet.
Over and over, I heard the echo of stepping out in faith, having the willingness of David to do ANYTHING the Lord asks, and to release fears and dive into the promises and inheritance that God has for each one of us.
I was reading through Hebrews, and most notably we refer to Hebrews 11 “the faith chapter”. At least, growing up as a preacher’s kid that is what I know it as. We focus on all these amazing people of God and how they followed God at all costs and on nothing more then God’s word and their faith.
What struck me as I was reading was the last verse of chapter 10 leading into chapter 11. (Side note: Sometimes I wish we would just get rid of Chapter numbers in the Bible.) This was probably the first time in my 21 years as a believer that I read straight from Hebrews 10 into 11.
Starting in chapter 10:35-39:
“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while,
‘He who is coming will come and not delay.
But my righteous one will live by faith.
And if he shrinks back,
I will not be pleased with him.’
But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.“
That leads us into chapter 11 where the writer of Hebrews gives of example after example of people who did not shrink back, but of people who held up their snorkels and yelled, “Face your fears!” and then dive head on into what God has for them. (Refer to video with Mellisa Helser for snorkel reference.)
Believe in what God has promised you. Have faith that he will honor what he has promised you, and go knowing that we are among those who BELIEVE and are SAVED!!!
