The After Life…

This is a subject that every World Racer comes across. I am not talking along the lines of reincarnation, but along the lines of, “what does my life look like after the race”?

It crosses every racer’s mind sometimes as early as month three and always in month eleven. One thing I learned while being on the race was to let go of expectations. However, the one thing a vast majority of racers hold onto and put expectation on is- life after MONTH 11.

Go figure, right? Eleven months of surrender and walking around with arms wide open, and then suddenly the hands begin to close and the arms fall gently by our side as we work out what is next. Where is God leading me after the race? What is next? Do I go back to work? Do I go back to school? Am I called to be a missionary, and if so, what does that look like for me?

Life after the race is different for each racer, just like life on the race is different for each racer.

Currently, 24 of the 50 racers on the G squad or October ’08 squad have come back to serve with AIM in some capacity, and there are others still praying about whether or not God is calling them to come on board. Whether it is squad leading for the World Race, leading for Real Life, or doing an apprenticeship program for AIM we believe in what God is doing through this organization so much so that 48% of our squad has decided to partner up again with them. The other 26 people are doing amazing things with ministering where God has placed them all throughout America and Canada.

The World Race it not the high point of one’s walk with the Lord. It is a launching pad that takes us in the atmosphere to see the nations fall before their knees and proclaim Jesus as Lord.

To Racers who have returned from the field:

You are not forgotten. Adventures In Missions and the World Race organization are here for you. There are many avenues and opportunities for you to come on board with AIM whether it is leading a squad, a real life team, or doing an apprenticeship program. You can find that community you have been lacking since returning back stateside. If you have seen the kingdom of God advancing across the nations, and want to continue to be a part of it there is a place for you. Whether or not it is with AIM, God has a place for you.

To the Racers currently on the field:

Know that God has you. You know you walk in his favor and protection while traveling through multiple countries. However, when we think of life after the race we seem to forget about this favor and protection. We begin to question the provision that we have seen so clearly on the field. If our God provides in the wilderness, he will also provide at the mountain top. Make sure you are keeping a “God did” list while on the field. That way you can see the written evidence of the way God is moving even in the seemingly insignificant things. He cares. He provides.
