God’s greatness astounds me. He also confuses me as well. There have been so many blessings on our team of great financial contributions. I read as teammates receive gifts from family, friends, and anonymous givers. I am in awe of the way He moves. He is truly moving in our group as a whole.
There is a purspose behind almost 60 young adults, coming from Canada and North America, uniting together to take the gospel into the world. The Lord has called and we have answered. For some of us it was a quick, “I will go” decision. For others, and for me, it has been something that I have struggled with. I have spent days in prayer and fasting. There was a lot of one sided Lindsay talk going on, and not a lot of Lindsay listening. I have never done anything beside build houses in Mexico with my youth group. Why would God call me? Why did He choose me?
The answer isn’t as glamours as some would think. I haven’t done anything in spectacular in my life to make me stand out. Actually, I ran away from God and have been back in His presence for a year and a half. Personally, I don’t think I am spiritually ready to enter the mission field, but I am heart ready.
God has called me to be His hands and feet. To see people with His eyes. To lay down my life and follow Him. To die to myself and live in Him. God is asking me to live a year of my life fully trusting Him to provide for my every need.
Trust me, this trip isn’t going to be church camp for an entire year, or even a vacation. It will be a year of living in close community. Addressing differences and dealing with them. It will be living in tents and praying over parisite infested water. It will be dealing with issues of the heart, that I didn’t know exsisted. While my tent got a five star rating, it is now where near a four star hotel.
The 60 of us are not “better” then anybody else because of this trip. Nor do we have a deeper connection with God. Nor is my spiritual life an example to others. He calls of all in different ways. We know that we are not saved by works, we are saved by the Precious blood of Jesus.
Many of you have been called to be my prayer partners with me in this ministry. The warriors of God that daily fall on their knees and intercede for me with prayer. Your prayers are a pitival part of our ministry. You have been called. May the Lord bless you for your fine work in the Kingdom.
There are some of you that have given sacrificially in the area of finances. For me this is personally, where my own faith is tested constantly. I have come to trust in what little money I have and what it can do for me, rather then in what work God can do in my heart when I give as a sacrifice, and how he can use it to advance His Kingdom. Unlike other teammates, I have had mulitple small gifts that add up to $700 of my $14,000 needed to do the race. Each one of those gifts that I have received has been a huge blessing, and I am continually moved when God calls his people to give sacrificially.
Those who support with money enable the actual taking of the gospel around the world. You provide a means through your giving, for us to give a meaning to someone who is in need.
I challange everyone to pray for God to give you a sacrificial heart for the futhering of His kingdom. Whether or not you give to this particular ministry, isn’t as important as just giving to the ministry of the Lord. There are many ways that God will ask you to give of your money. Once you have prayed and are firm in what He has asked, give willingly and cheerfully. The Lord will bless. You will be blessed and so will those whose ministry you have supported.
We are all players. We are all futhering the Kingdom. We all play a special part. In the acting world there is a saying that goes, “There are no small parts. Only small actors.” This is true for us believers. There are no small parts in the work of the Lord, for no work done in the name of the Lord is small.
