Its time to share more about this adventure. Somehow I have been neglecting filling everyone in on the moments that stick out to me, either from learning something or from just experiencing the undeniable presence of God. Ecuador, has a special place in my heart. I don’t know what the Lord’s plans on for me returning there but I would not doubt that He would send me back. I know that He has told me that I will be returning to Latin America. I do have to thank Him for the great blessing of our contact Percy, who made the month quite the adventure, he is an amazing man of God that works so hard for the Lord and always has a smile on his face along with speaking some Spanglish and full of joy.
My Spanish is improving; I am having the most trouble with verb conjugations, which I am sure a Spanish course would help out. Anyway back to the adventure. Ecuador was an amazing month where all expectations of each day had to be dropped as well as the need to control situations. I knew this the following morning form arriving at our ministry site. I was under the impression that our team was going to be separated for the entire month living in different homes. Somewhere lost in translation as well, I thought that in the morning I was going to get picked up for us to go into the next town over and help out. I taped a video about my breakfast that was laid out on the table for me and how the month of semi isolation was going to be interesting. I walked out at 11 with just my small back pack. Pepo, our driver asked me where me bag was. I looked at him confused and told him, right here in my hand. Then I was told that I needed to have everything packed.
Only my the shear grace of God, I has asked my generous host family for the key, just in case I needed it, thinking that I was going to be living there for the month. I had to go back upstairs and semi repack all my things. We finally arrived at our contacts home, Percy. When I spoke to Chris and Will, who were staying with Percy, they both seemed to be equally confused with the plans. Apparently the plan we seemed to have mixed up in translation was that we were staying in the next town over for the next few nights. So as we went over the ‘plan de attack’ several times in the next few hours we settled into our new home for the week. The Alianza Church of Calderon. There we met our amazing family, momma Narcisa, pastor Francisco, their amazing three sons and sweet grandchildren. They lived right above the church and we camped out inside the church. This is the beginning of my trip and adventure in Ecuador.
