They asked us to blog about our expectations of the trip, however, I have been on enough mission trips to know that God shatters all your intial expectations. So, as much as I can, I'm trying to remain expectationless, and praying that God allows me to be flexible and willing to handle whatever this trip throws at me with a willing heart and patient spirit. Some things are bound to happen though, so here's what I'm preparing for:

– I expect to be pushed.
I expect this trip to push me to my limits. Spiritually, physically, emotionally.
– I expect to be uncomfortable.
No more sourthern comfort zone. I expect to feel awkward.
– I expect to be dirty.
As someone who showers every single morning, and sometimes again at night, this will be a huge change of hygiene for me.
– I expect to be tired
Long travelling days, long ministry days, long, exciting free days.
– I expect to be grumpy.
Somedays I'm sure I will just be sick of it all and let my attitude slip. Please pray for me that God will give me patience and a servants attitude, even when it's hard.
– I don't expect to be hungry
I'm sooo excited about all the new foods I get try!
– I expect to make awesome friendships
Both with my teamates and people I'll be ministering to, it is so amazing to see the people God brings together from different parts of the world.
– I expect to be blessed
Our God is great. He has a purpose and plan for everything we do. This trip will come with huge blessings alongside the struggles.
– I expect to be changed
Every short term week-long mission I've been on has changed me tremendously. I dont expect to come back from eleven months of serving the same person.
