Recently there has been a lot of death among the Chicken Bus Drivers that go from Antigua to San Lucas. These are the buses that we specifically use for transportation on the weekends to get to Antigua. Our Ministry host German is so protective of us that the whole week he has been worried about us going to Antigua.

My team and I had already planned that we were going to go and stay the night at a Hostel and just get away from Xenacoj for the Weekend. German offered that he would take us and that we would ride the bus home on Sunday.

So he took us on Saturday although we had to pay a little more than usual I felt more comfortable with that. On our way the traffic was a heavier than normal. We asked what it might be and German said “Maybe a car wreck?” But it wasn’t. When we got to the front we saw a body bag that was lying in a puddle of blood.

This worried me a little more than I already was about the bus situation. It was fear from Satan for sure.

Because German didn’t want us to come home on the bus alone, one of our Awesome guy squad mates Josh stayed with us the whole weekend. He’s one that I’m thankful for and does a great job with serving the Women on our team.

We had a fun rejuvenating weekend in Antigua. Antigua is a safe city so I wasn’t worried about that. I was extremely sad and a little anxious when it came to an end because I knew that we had to get on the scary chicken busses and come home.

I had been praying the whole weekend that the Lord would protect us on our way home. Something that I was secretly really fearful of was the ride home. We went to the bus pick up and got right on. The bus that we just happened to be taking to our first stop was a bus with four police officers guarding it. I have never felt so much peace on the way home. We made more than safely home.

My God was watching over us.

I shouldn’t ever live in doubt of how big my God really is. This trip I continually fall deeper and deeper in love with The Father.

“And we know that in all things God works for the Good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

With so much Peace,

Lexi
