Hiya!! So we still don’t have wifi yet but we should get it on Wednesday, we’re staying at a host’s house again on our way to debrief. This past week was by far the hardest week of my life as far as mentally and spiritually taxing. We ended up leaving Chibuto, (where we’ve been working with kids and doing village ministry) and we traveled to a place called Zavala, it took us about 5 hours to drive there and about an hour to drive back home, still convinced we got lost at some point hahaha. Anyways so before we left one of the ladies that works at the property we were staying at told us she had a vision from God that we should keep our eyes on the Lord because something dark was there. We were told our ministry was going to be helping build a church and village ministry in that area because it’s a huge voodoo area.

We arrive and are greeted with them singing to us then dancing in a circle (Which of course I had to jump in the circle and try the cultural dance moves I was observing). That night we had a short church service introducing ourselves and a short message. The next day we helped tear down their existing church building which was mainly consisted of palm leaves and a rusty tin roof weighted down with wood in plans to build a new one. Later that night after lunch, one of our squad mates comes back and tells us we should come back to where we have our tents posted up and check something out. We get back to our tents and there’s a voodoo sculpture/idol built out of trash pointing at someone’s tent and another behind our tents and we immediately disassemble them. Once I see it my stomach drops. What in the world? What do we do? I had never had experience with voodoo stuff this bold. Immediately I started praying in my head for protection for the group and I. The woman’s vision from the compound was right. Just keep our eyes on the Lord. He is all the protection we need. We ended up all sleeping as much as we could. Safe to say I didn’t sleep much, I fell asleep for about an hour, woke up and decided to keep watch for a little bit. At around 3:30 I head this weird sound that sounded like weird moaning and whispering… nervous as to what I see I peek through the vent on my tent… it’s a goat. (Gotcha didn’t I?? Yeah it got me too, don’t worry) But see?? God was faithful, he protected all of us, we just had to put all our trust in him and that he would keep us from harm. We woke up the next morning rejuvenated and eager to do God’s work in that place.

Thank you for all your prayers. I can’t wait to see everyone when I return!! 🙂
