So to start out, a little about me… hints the title.
I’ve always enjoyed helping others in any way I can Whether it’s helping people be more comfortable on their feet (Which is currently my job, fitting people for athletic shoes), or helping out my church’s youth program by volunteering on Wednesday and Sunday nights mentoring the youth. Honestly I feel like a missions experience like this is ideal for me. I have a good way of connecting with anybody regardless of their life walk, caring for people, and obviously I love to travel and spread God’s word throughout the world.
I’ve always had a heart for world missions as displayed throughout my life going to different places like Jamaica, Belize, Honduras, Costa Rica and some in-country such as Washington D.C. Ever since my first missions trip to Honduras when I was nine I immediately fell in love with world missions. The immersion into another culture, the challenge of comprehending a foreign language, adventure, animals, scenery; but most of all getting to share God’s love with others by being the hands and feet of Jesus, sharing God’s word and being a light in dark corners of the world.
Recently I felt God calling me to do something greater and then he brought to light an organization called Adventures in Missions which founded something awesome called The World Race that I had never heard of before! So I ended up taking the quiz and filling out an application to be a part of the team! I’m confident this is God’s plan for me even though I’m coming into it a little later than most people.
