What a whirlwind of a new year it has been, and it is only February, but let's back up, and I'll start from the beginning.
My prayer for this year, the year 2013, was that I would be an open vessel for God to use, even if it meant me being uncomfortable. I began praying about where I should go, what I should do in order to prepare for what I believe will be one of the best seasons of my life on this race.
I kept praying…
….and seeking
and praying…
I wasn't getting results, I felt like my prayers were hitting the clouds and bouncing back. I hit my knees hard and I started questioning what God had placed in front of me, and that is when it happened. He answered.
You see, I was praying to God, praying for the finances to come in, praying for doors to be open, praying for the boldness to talk about my calling, but I wasn't trusting God with it all. I was praying for doors to be open, but I wanted to open them. Praying for finances to come in, but I wanted to be able to 'prove' in a sense where it came from.
I started reading a book called The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson. It stems from an ancient story about Honi, a sage, who lived out side the walls of Jerusalem. When nobody else dared to be as bold in prayer as him, he drew a circle in the sand, hit his knees, and prayed for rain. Not just physical rain, but for spiritual rain. And just when God's people thought that He couldn't hear them, He answered, and brought the rain.
I read that, and immediately thought, that's what I want my prayer life to be like. BOLD.
Lord Jesus, I give my every move over to you, my words, my actions, my life. Let me not move unless it is in your will. Let me not speak unless it points people to You. To You be all the Glory. AMEN!
Such a simple prayer, but so powerful. I watch miracle after miracle happen.
My job got better.
My fundraising account got a boost.
My car got sold.
Loans got paid off.
Doors were opened.
Boldness flowed from deep inside me.
God showed up.
Bold prayers honor God and God honors bold prayers. God isn't offended by your biggest dreams or boldest prayers, He is offended by anything less. If your prayers aren't impossible to you, they are insulting to God. Why? Because they don't require divine intervention.
I can try all I want to make things happen, and figure things out, but that gives no glory to God. So instead I will pray through, and praise Him for what He has, what He is, and what He is going to do. We have not because we ask not.
And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. Luke 11:9
So with that I tell you, if you feel like I felt, like your prayers are going unanswered. Stand firm. Draw a circle around your awaited miracle and pray boldly. Pray through, and Praise Him for that miracle. Praise Him as if it has already manifested.
With God ALL things are possible. Tap into that, know that God has perfect timing. God will answer your prayers, but only in a way that is unexplainable by any human, so that all the glory goes to Him.
