my first week in the Dominican has been wild and everything I was hoping it would be. This month we have teamed up with an organization called “Hope for the DR” and they are trying to restore the faith and community in the Dominican. They have set up multiple churches and schools and are looking to expand to orphanages in the near future. They really have a heart for serving The Lord and I’m so blessed to have been paired with them.

Each week of ministry looks a little different since there are a few different teams serving for this one ministry site we all rotate. Last week my team and I (shout out to team submerge!) worked on writing curriculum for girls ages 5-18 educating them on what constitutes as sexual abuse and helping them find ways to cope with their abuse. It’s sad because abuse is so “normal” here that it just sets up for generational hurt. I have a huge heart for women so serving last week held a special place in my heart. We got to travel to the school and meet some of the girls who will be on the other end of the curriculum we helped create and I just pray it reaches their hearts and they realize god is right there with them and that they run to him instead of the men who abuse them.

Next week my team and I will be doing “prayer walks” for the town we are living in this month. Lajas is a town in serious need of gods love and provision so we will spend our days walking the streets and praying for everyone here. This is a new deal for me so I’m excited to see how god moves this week in ways I’ve never experienced before.

I can’t believe I’m here and how peaceful I feel and I can’t say that without saying thank you to each and every person who supported and helped get me here. I pray that god blesses you all tenfold to how you blessed me. I wake up each day so thankful to serve an amazing god and so thankful to have such an amazing support system to fall back on.

But I do need to let you guys know that wifi here on the mountain is extremely limited and contacting everyone to update them this month will be hard. Know that I’ll update whenever I can but I’m always praying for you guys!

Love you all so much and until next time!

xoxo
