In April I will be joining the Adventures in Missions staff as a mobilizer for the World Race! I could not be more excited to see what God is going to do in this next season of life.

I recently had a friend describe this position better than I ever could.

I get to “hold the door open”.

I will be assisting participants in all phases of preparation for the field. Basically, I will work hard to make their transition as smooth as possible. I am so excited to walk alongside men and women who are following God’s leading and who are going to experience something that I hold so dear to my heart.

I’m also learning a little more about holding the door open in my own life as well.

A few months ago I started asking God for a change. I wasn’t sure exactly I wanted or what it would look like, I just knew that I needed it. I was complacent, satisfied, and stagnant. I was getting lost in the daze of a selfish life.

Well, God answered me.

He provided a job with Adventures, and subsequently, a move to Georgia. I wish I could say from the first moment of accepting the job until now that I have trusted that God knows what He is doing.

I went on to tell family, friends, and co-workers. I was met with mostly encouragement and excitement, but also some doubt and questioning of the decision I was making. I started letting the outside voices and circumstances dictate how I felt. A friend would “hold the door open” and then in same day another would slam it shut. It was a whirlwind of a few weeks. It ended with a lot of doubt on my part and a huge need for God to show up.

Well, God showed up.

He told me that he wanted to hold the door open for me. He wanted me to be able to walk through it with confidence and dependence on Him. He is good and He is worthy of being trusted. It is something so fundamental – but sometimes it takes a little while for my heart to remember that.

I am thankful that He is willing to lovingly remind me when I need it.

He is giving me the faith to take my hands off, let Him hold the door, and to trust that He’s got this.

I also need people to help hold the door open for me through prayer and financial support. My position requires that I fundraise $6,000 a year ($500 a month). I would love for you to consider partnering with me in this. I need to raise 3 months of support ($1,500) before I start on April 11th.

If God leads you to donate, whether it is one-time or monthly support, please click the “Support Me” link on the left side of my blog or contact me ([email protected]) so I can give you more information about how to support me (all donations are tax-deductible).
