The most asked question I've gotten so far is, "Where are you going?" So, of course, I did my best to memorize my route as soon as I could so I didn't look like a fool when the topic came up.
Here it is friends! My route will take me to Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Nepal, India, Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Puerto Rico.
The next question I get is "How much do you have to raise?" When I answer this question I always get the 'are you serious?' look along with a flood of ideas for fundraising and a pat on the back for good luck.
Here's the breakdown:
· By June 28th I need $3500
· By August 18th I need $6500
· By the end of 3 months on the field I need $11,000
· By the end of 6 months on the field I need $15,500
This money will cover most costs while on the field, but it does not cover travel to training camp, gear I need for the race, insurance, vaccinations, etc. So, with that said, I would actually like to raise over this amount to cover those expenses as well.
This seems like a daunting task, I know. The great thing is that my God is big enough. He opened this door for me and I fully trust that He will provide for me to walk through it.
Yes, I am going to have to ask over and over for money. I am going to have to work my butt off doing fundraisers. I am going to get nervous and scared along the way. I am probably going to ask for help in doing all of this, a lot.
I have seen God provide in amazing ways for me in the past, and I have no reason to doubt that he will be doing the same thing this time.
