Hello from Botswana!
This month is my team’s Unsung Heroes month.
Unsung Heroes means that we are going into a country with no contacts and no plans, just one mission.
Our mission is to meet new contacts for future World Race teams to go work with. When we meet someone, we make sure that they are not already partnered up with Adventures in Missions, if they’re not, we meet up with them, check out their ministry, write a report and send it to AIM.
Until the day before we left for Botswana, we had nothing. I woke up that morning and desperately asked the Lord to give me something, anything to help us out when we get there.
We knew that we would arrive there late at night so we really wanted to have something nailed down and not just be 5 girls stepping out of the bus in a sketchy area at night with no where to go.
After asking the Lord to just give me a little something, my team and I went to a coffee shop and as soon as I log onto their wifi I get a whatsapp message. It was a message from Pierre asking me how he could help me, that they could find us a place to stay and organize a ride for us when we got there! I stood up and high fived everyone I could, THANK YOU LORD! My prayers were answered and we had something nailed down for day one. When we arrived there Jaco, Pierre’s friend picked us up and took us to a volunteer house in a nearby village. An awesome 19 year old American girl, Kelsey greeted us at the door with a smile, welcomed us in and gave us coffee. We were too thankful for words. That first night, as I laid in a soft bed with a full belly, I had tears of pure thankfulness. God’s provision is something I will never doubt anymore.
So right now, we are staying out in a Village about an hour away from the city. We try to go search for a good enough wifi connection every other day or as much as we can. We finally have a good grip on the bus/taxi system! We’ve met some really cool people and have some really good stories to tell. It’s been quite the adventure so far! Thank you for catching up with me, please keep us in your prayers and I’ll tell some of the stories in my next couple of blogs.
from Botswana with love,
L
