Anyone on the World Race will tell you, you have to give up your right to have a plan.
Want to know the plan for…
…next month
…next week
…tomorrow
…this evening
…ten minutes from now.
Forget about it.
And even if you do know, there is a high possibility that plans will quickly change.
In just four months I cannot even begin to count the number of times plans have changed. Plans change. Often, and that is normal.
But with this God is teaching me to set aside my agenda and expectations and rest in the assurance that He has everything in His hands. He loves to provide for His children.
The lesson has been even more prevalent this month as my team's ministry has been Unsung Heroes.
For Unsung Heroes month, my team was not given a specific ministry to work with or even a city to live in, but was given the charge to find ministries within South Africa that future World Race teams can partner with in the future.
The first week we lived at a camp ground with two other teams. During the second we stayed in a hostel that was specifically for Christian missionaries that was run by an extremely hospitable family. At both places, even though our budget was small, they worked with it. Not only did they not allow us to go hungry, they made sure we were well fed. And we had transportation to meet contacts, and were getting to meet amazing brothers and sisters who are doing amazing work for the Kingdom and loving the people of South Africa so well.
We were set.
But, soon it became time for us to move on. The week we had booked our hostel for was over on Tuesday and another group was moving in right after we left on Wednesday.
It was Monday.
And guess what…we had no place to go. No bus tickets. No contacts.
We had tried to make plans a couple times, but nothing was working out.
Perfect.
Perfect because in this moment God had to show up. He had to provide. We were completely at a loss.
And He did.
Monday night we went to dinner at a friend of one of our squad leaders house. We chatted about our mission for the month and before we knew it she was inviting us to live with her family for as long as we needed AND she would put us in contact with ministries she knew.
Like I said, "Perfect." In less than an hour we had gone from nothing to having a home and contact.
For a week we got to live with Mel and her two daughters.
We had a room and bathroom to ourselves. Real towels. A washer and dryer. Amazing meals (she cooked us Mexican one night, that is hard to find!). Contacts. And even better an amazing family. For the first time in four months, I felt at home.
What a blessing. God really does know best what His children need.
God's plans are better than our own. In those times we have no way to provide for ourselves He can show up in ways we could not ever imagine! He can do the same for you, all you have to do is trust Him.
Your Papa in heaven loves to give good gifts to you too.
God has also been showing me his provision financially. I am 80% funded, which means I only need $3,000 to be fully funded by December! Thank you so much to everyone who has partnered with me. I am blessed to by your prayers and support. (:
