Last time we met (aka in my last blog), I gave you a little sneak peek at Training Camp in video form. And it was really fun! Fun for me to make the video, and fun for you to be able to see it. But while you did see a bunch of really cool people known as H Squad (aka #worldrice, aka Joy Squad, aka All Asia), I didn’t get the chance to introduce you to my specific team — the ones I’ll be living with, serving with, and doing life with over the next 11 months.

So without further ado, meet Team Beloved Warriors!

From left to right: Ali, me, Landon, Julia, Kyle, and Grace. These are my people.

I was not expecting to be on this team. When team building was happening and World Race leadership was putting together possible team combinations, I wasn’t put with any of these smiling faces. And while I really did love the people the Race was pairing me with through all the different exercises, something just didn’t feel right.

Throughout the team building process, I prayed that the Lord would help me be content. That no matter who I was placed with, that He would receive the glory, and that I would be able to love my team well (and accept their love).

When Julia (my team leader!) read the names of the people on her team and my name was called, peace ran through my body. Later, when we all went to dinner and started sharing our lives with each other — our strengths and weaknesses, our hopes for the journey — I felt at home. I felt like I could be my crazy self, and my fellow crazy people accepted me, no reservations.

Some of us are introverts. Some of us would talk all day if we could. And all of us are beyond excited to battle together, as Beloved Warriors, for Jesus in Asia.

And also, all of us like ice cream. So I’m in.

Okay, enough about my lovely team. Even though we are pretty cool, and you’ll hear a lot about us over the next year. I want to say just a few words about a different kind of team, that I’d love for YOU (yes, you!) to join. This mysterious concept is…my prayer team

I can’t do this World Race thing alone. I’ve been so incredibly blessed by the financial and verbal support from wonderful people, and I’m so thankful. But now I’m looking for a sustaining support that will do more than money ever could, and that’s prayer.

You might have heard about this floating around on the Facebook and whatnot, but here’s my formal invitation to you.

I’m building a prayer team of people who will commit to praying for me (and my people) on one specific day every week, for 15 minutes. [So if you commit to Wednesdays, you’re saying you’ll pray for 15 minutes every Wednesday from now until I land in America a year from now.] I’m looking for at least 5 different people to commit to every day of the week, to cover me, my team, and our ministry in prayer!

If you’d like to hop on board, shoot me a message/email/text/phone call with your email address and what day you’d like. I’ll be emailing my whole prayer team before launch, and hopefully a few times a month while I’m gone, with specific prayer requests, as well as sharing answered prayers.

So there you have it. You met my team, and now hopefully you’re considering joining my team as well. Together, we’re going to change some lives for the sake of the Gospel. Team Beloved Warriors is excited to be a part of it, and I hope you’re excited too!
