Last fall, I spent 3 months in Baja Mexico with the National Outdoor Leadership School, backpacking, sailing, and sea kayaking. During the month of backpacking, I had an instructor named Ryan, whose favorite saying was “we’re almost halfway there!” No matter how far we actually were, whether we had just started hiking for the day, or if we could almost see our destination, Ryan would tell us that we were almost halfway there.

Well, guess what. We’re almost halfway there!!

Halfway to where, you might ask? To being fully funded, of course! I’m currently 48% funded, with $7,872 in my account (out of $16,254).

Guys, it’s the coolest thing. You wanna know why? Because I didn’t do it. That’s right. I may have sent out some letters, but I’ve honestly never met half the people I sent a letter to. I may have sold tshirts, but I neither designed nor take any credit for the brilliance that is a tshirt fundraiser. Nope, I didn’t do anything. I sat there, with my Bible and journal open, and watched the money come in. Sometimes I’d get $500 in a week. Sometimes I’d get $5. But it’s God that put the money in my account. God, working through my friends and family, through people I’ve never met and some of my best friends. And I’m so thankful.

We’re almost halfway there! I say we, because I didn’t (and still can’t) do this alone. Thank you to all those who have already supported me, financially and prayerfully. I’m so beyond thankful for your generosity. And thank you to those who will be joining my support team in the future. God is doing big things, and I’m excited that you’re going to join the fun.

Fun facts: My first fundraising deadline is June 28th (in 4 days), for $3,500. Yeah, we passed that goal in April. (Praise the Lord!). So my unofficial goal was to reach my next deadline of $7,500 by June 28th, even though it’s not offically due until August 18th. Nailed it.

So what does this mean now? My next fundraising deadline of $11,000 is due on December 1st. Guys, I think we can get there by August 18th. See the pattern? Ahead of schedule. $3,128. Let’s do it!

If you’d like to join me financially, holler at that Support Me! tab on the left side of your screen. If you want to pray for me, I dare you to click that Talk to Me! tab and tell me about it. And if you’d like to help provide for some gear/vaccinations/flights expenses for my trip (including airline miles?!), check out http://www.myregistry.com/wishlist/Leah-Vogel-Lakewood-CO/580747. It’s like a wedding registry, but I’m not getting married.

Anyways. Like I said before, we’re almost halfway there! Let’s keep praising the Lord until we’re fully funded, and beyond.
