When I signed up for the world race, I had all of these expectations, all of which involved me ministering to the people who so desperately needed to know Jesus. In a way I feel like I may have even been a little prideful about it. These people needed me; or so I thought. Today definitely wrecked all of these expectations. Jenn and I spent the day at the pastor’s house with his wife because we weren’t feeling well. Yay! I win the prize for being the first one on our team to throw up! As soon as we arrived she had set two cots up for us outside directly under the fans so that we could rest. She also gave us their one and only stand up fan out of the house so that we could be as cool as possible. She would constantly check on us to make sure that we had everything that we wanted or needed. She made us tea and prayed over us. When I tried to thank her for being such a gracious host, she told me no thanks is necessary. She said that her bible told her to love her neighbor as herself. I felt a tear fall from my eye. So many times I had heard this preached, but I still struggled with actually living it out. Yet here was a beautiful lady who had only know us for a few short days, loving me with all that she had. I spent the latter part of the day talking with her and attempting to learn some Telagu; she even taught me a song. I never imagined today would turn out like it did. I was the one who ended up being ministered to. I got to see a woman who loved her Lord with all of her heart, with all of her soul, with all of her strength, and with all of her mind and then loved me as herself.
