My name is Lauren Morris, and I am 22. I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri (“I’m from the Lou, and I’m proud!”). I have been blessed with a wonderful family that has always loved and supported me in all of my decisions. I am an only child and was raised by my mom, who is the most loving and sacrificial woman I know. Currently, I live in Indianapolis, Indiana, where I am about to graduate from Butler University with my bachelors degree in finance. While living in Indy, I became actively involved with a house church through Common Ground Christian Church. Fellowship with that body of believers has taught me more about love, community, and my relationship with Jesus than I could have ever imagined.
You’re probably reading this in an attempt to figure out how I became a part of this crazy adventure. Honestly, I’m still not entirely sure myself! However, I do know that God has called me to serve with the WR, and I’m excited about this amazing opportunity. I have considered myself a Christian all of my life, but I didn’t have a personal relationship with Jesus until high school. During my sophomore year at Butler, I participated in a mission trip to an orphanage in Mandeville, Jamaica. During that week, I had the privilege to begin to build relationships with the children who lived at the home. God used that experience to open my eyes to the hurt in the world, and He gave me a passion to serve those that the world typically rejects. Since that first trip, I have been back to work at the orphanage twice, I and am planning another trip in March 2007.
I cannot wait to see what God has in store for me and the rest of the WR team during the next year. I know it is not going to be easy, but Jesus never promised us that following Him would be easy.
Random things I like: tennis, Martha Stewart, broccoli, bonfires, Google, cleaning/organizing, spending time with my house church, ice skating, kids, the color
green, reading non-fiction books (my favorite is “The World is Flat” by Thomas Friedman), Christmas lights, flag football, Wikipedia, watching “The Office”, going to concerts, and the
St. Louis Cardinals
