Let me start by saying that I’m Lauren McCarter, even though I’m pretty sure you know that, considering it’s in the URL. But anyways, I am 17 and a senior at Wakefield High School in Virginia. I love all of the basic things like my family, friends and the Lord, and I absolutely love sports and adventures. But instead of writing long, and probably extremely boring, sentences, I’ve decided to come up with 17 random facts about myself (you know… because I’m 17). So here it goes:
1. Swimming is my thing. I’ve been on a competitive swim team since the age of 3 and I love everything about it.
2. I’m super passionate about human rights, equality and social constructs. Like super super passionate and I’m always in the mood to talk about it.
3. Missions. These are also kinda my thing. I’ve been to the Dominican Republic and the Philippines, so YAY to going back to both places on this trip. I love everything that comes with missions, the friendships, memories and hard times all included.
4. TRAVELING. If I could, I would spend all of my time traveling. I spent the entire summer traveling last year, 9 different trips. I spent less than two weeks total at home and it R O C K E D.
5. Surfing. I do surf, I do not surf well. I learned to surf four years ago and have my own board but I definitely can not say I’m very good at it.
6. Marine biology. I love the ocean and everything about it. I am very interested in marine life and absolutely love studying it.
7. Did I mention that I’m passionate about equality? Well, let me mention it again. If I could choose one topic to talk about 24/7, this would be it!!!!!
8. OCD. I’ve never been diagnosed with the disorder, but this isn’t because I don’t have it. I have it in certain situations. If I’m handwriting a paper I will write it 15 times over, making sure it is perfectly neat. My room on the other hand? Just ask my parents.
9. Adventures, adventures and more adventures. I’m up to do LITERALLY anything. I love taking risks and I mean I wouldn’t be signed up for this if I didn’t love an adventure right?
10. Tattoos. This is like my little dirty secret that’s not so much a secret, or really that dirty at all. I love tattoos and I cannot wait until July 17th, 2017 (the day I turn 18!!).
11. I’m kinda talkative. Ok maybe not kinda. I am very talkative. I love having conversations and I’ll talk on and on about anything and everything.
12. Siblings!! I have one real brother, he’s 13. One step sister, she’s 16. And 3 half siblings, two are 2 (twins!) and one is 1 (today is his birthday!).
13. I LOVE THE BEACH. I grew up on an island and my top choice for college is on an island!
14. Northbay. There’s this camp in Maryland that’s named Northbay. It’s my favorite place ever, like ever. I go back next month, just in case you guys were wondering (I know you weren’t).
15. Skydiving is my dream. Don’t worry mom, July 17th is still a good ways away!
16. I’m really loud and like I don’t know how not to be. So you all can feel free to tell me to shut up at any point!
17. My BFFs, Matt and Hailey. I love them so so so so so much and I’m gonna miss them lots and lots and I thought I should include them here since they make me who I am. THEY ARE SO GRAND!
