Sitting on the floor of a Masai shop while the sweet Helena pieces together a pair of pants, I thought I might as well write a blog:)
My younger sister face-timed me last night. Showed me around her new apartment. Pretty nice set up, living the life in Austin Texas.
I then proceeded to show her what life of the rich and famous looks like in Iringa, Tanzania. It is a house of no secrets because the open ceiling.. You can literally hear everything, at all times. We have a shower head which is actually a pretty rare thing though the water that falls from above is imported from the arctic and a wonderful squatty potty which threw my sister for a loop. Thankful for the one and only Thomas Haygood who so eagerly demonstrated the proper technique.
She showed me where she was planning on setting her bed, her desk and where she could hang some pictures. Made me miss decorating and my Do it yourself file on pintrest. What's crazy is that in just two months ill be back in the states. Ill most likely have the opportunity to decorate a room of my own. It's exciting but as I sat on the concrete floor next to Thomas and Samson laughing about the contrast of mine and my sisters life I realized how much I will miss this lifestyle. I am rich and famous.
My God has provided more than enough for me over the past nine months and the 23 years before that. Family, friends, health and lots of fun. As for famous.. While people might not know my name I can't leave the house without hearing "mzungo" from every direction. And spending the past month sleeping in 11 different locations, one might even think I had been on tour.
I've been blessed to live the last 3 months in East Africa and in just 3 days I will be landing in Ukraine. Before I know I'll be back in Texas! Praying for endurance and a new passion to help me take advantage of this wonderful life God has given me.
