Hello there ๐
My name is Lauren Lee & I am so excited to share with you what god is doing in my life. First of all I want to thank you so much for taking the time to read about me and the World Race.
About me:
I am from Indiana and I am 21 years old. I grew up going to church & I have had a heart for missions… okay I have always wanted to “feed the starving kids in Africa” since I was very young. I didn’t exactly grasp what missions was all about. I just wanted to help. I would watch the commercials about donating so much a month to feed the hungry & my heart would break ๐ I would always think to myself I want to be the one there feeding the hungry. I want to save them!
As I grew up, this desire got crowded with other things. I never actually thought my dream could come true of going to Africa. I felt it was so far away and there was no way I would actually go there.
The summer of my freshman year of high school I was able to go on my first mission’s trip. I went to Mexico with my youth group. I absolutely loved it & my heart went right back to where it had always belonged.
My family and began sponsoring two kids who lived in the Dominican Republic through Mission of mercy. We have gotten the opportunity to go there 3 times. We have been able meet their families and do construction and vacation bible school with their church.
After high school I went to do a 9 month discipleship school in Atlanta Georgia called Masters Commission. I was able to do ministry in the inner city and also be indulged in teachings of the word of god everyday. I learned to walk out my faith and live my life as that which Jesus lived.
My dream of going to Africa came true in December of 2009! I went on a 3 week trip to Kenya with Masters Commission. I could not believe I was going to Africa!!! It was amazing!
Once I had returned to the states I felt the lord leading me to go back to Kenya. Once graduating Masters I went home and began preparing to go back to Kenya. I went back to Kenya in February of 2011 and did a YWAM (youth with a mission) school called DTS (discipleship training school). I was in Kenya for 8 months. I learned a lot while in Kenya.
Now here I am back home in Indiana preparing for the WORLD RACE! ๐
