The Basics: I’m 22. Although that may seem young, I have put the old saying “Live and Learn” to the test. I have an amazing, supportive family consisting of a mom, a dad, an older brother, and two dogs. I live in a small country town in southeastern Pennsylvania. I grew up in Maryland, which is where all my family, friends, and my job still are and where I spend most of my time. So if you ask me where I’m from I will most likely say Maryland.
I have an outgoing, adventurous, fearless personality. Except for snakes, they are my one true fear in life. I’m a competitive athlete. I have a huge sweet tooth. Candy, dessert, doughnuts, baked goods…yes, please, all the time. I would say I am a solid mix between girly and tomboy. I’m the girl who is playing in the mud with her nails painted bright pink.
I will be graduating from Slippery Rock University this May with an Exercise Science degree. Although it has a strange name, I was happy to make the most of my college experience at Slippery Rock over the past four years. I played three years of DII lacrosse at good ol Slimmy Pebble. I made friends that will last a lifetime and learned to have an open mind and appreciate people for their differences. My plan is to go to graduate school for my master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
I’m artistic and creative and love arts and crafts, although I don’t have as much time for them as I would like. I love taking pictures because I have a terrible memory and pictures help me to remember all the amazing moments in my life.
I love nature and animals and being outdoors appreciating God’s beautiful creation. I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, kayaking, pretty much anything that involves fresh air and adventure. I try to appreciate every season for all it has to offer but I prefer warm sunny days.
I am happiest when I am helping others. I love kids and older people in particular. I love children for their innocence and older people for their experiences and wisdom. I work as a private caregiver for people with disabilities and older people that can’t live independently anymore. I have learned that life is much more about others than it is about me.
As far as music goes, I love acoustic relaxing music. I dabble with the guitar and piano but I am no prodigy. I enjoy a variety of music and enjoy trying new things in almost every aspect of life. I think that having an open mind is important and appreciating and enjoying variety is a lifestyle.
I love inspirational quotes, books, and movies. I’m a hopeless romantic…except I’m not hopeless…at least I hope not. I love to be humbled by things that are much bigger than me like the night sky, the ocean, and sunsets. But also little things like a beautiful little flower, a lady bug, or the kindness of a stranger.
Some people have crazy amazing testimonies but my testimony is simply that I am blessed. I was raised in a Christian home and God has always been a big part of my life.. I know that all my abilities are not my own but they come from a God who created me, loves me, saved me, and has a plan for my life.
My favorite quote is “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.” -Helen Keller
I want to experience all this life has to offer and I’m excited for what God has in store for my future.
