After working for the top names in fashion and media for the past ten years, it was clear that I had acquired a fashion hoarding problem, that could benefit me in my fundraising efforts. The world race is SuperFab in itself, so a garage sale that reflects such awesomeness only seemed appropriate. What I didn’t know, was that God also had big plans to make the event SuperFab for me!

God showed up at my garage sale! A minister from out of state came by after seeing the ad online, and asked if he could give me a blessing. He prayed over me right there in my garage, and after he left a shopper came to me and asked me about Christ, and said that he has been seeking God for years now, and made plans to finally join me at my church. Later on, another man’s casual shopping conversation turned into an invitation to church, where he was thrilled to finally “feel accepted” by a Christian that didn’t judge him for his rebel style. I continued to see God working in my garage that day as former colleagues brought their families to show support and shop. Those that I went to kindergarten with, shared an occasional walk with, sat next to on the school bus, volunteered alongside, waved at in passing, roomed with, and prayed next to all showed up, and so did their wallets. Incredible people with big hearts that I shared only moments or sometimes years with all showed up and donated to be a part of this journey that will change the world.

I was in awe of how amazing God’s people are as they all stepped up and volunteered to help in exactly the ways I needed help. I never had to ask anyone for anything, but had so much support and love surrounding me with making signs, setting up, pricing, merchandising, marketing, cashiering, and even hot dog making.

A few amazing people filled my heart when they filled my garage with donations of all kinds that were so SuperFab!

A prominent Jewish woman woke up at 5am in order to help me put signs around the city the first day, a job she volunteered for! Another former colleague from radio that is openly atheist, promoted the sale and then traveled around the city with me to put up my signs on day two, just before he made a large donation. These people were not christian, but have seen firsthand what Christ has done with my life, and wanted to be a part of the journey. It amazes me how my stuff has turned into the real stuff that fills my heart. Never did I think that my Gucci shoes would actually be able to bring such goodness, this is a whole new level of goodness that their made in Italy, couture campaign did not mention.

Since I couldn’t fit even a fifth of my closet into my garage, I have extended the sale, and will continue to experience such love this weekend. Stay tuned next week for more updates.
