Adventures in Missions is an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. They emphasize prayer and relationships in their work amongst the poor. Since they were established in 1989, they have taken over 100,000 people into the mission field, some for as short as a week and others for as long as a year or longer. In several places around the world they minister year-round to “the least of these”. They believe that by giving people the opportunity to hold orphans, bring hope to the hopeless, and pray for the sick, lives are transformed.
The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. One of the unique things about the World Race is that it’s not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
If you know me at all, you know that my ideal living situation isn’t stuffing all of my belongings into a pack, sleeping in a sleeping bag night after night, and trekking from one country to another month after month. However, my life is not my own. Being a Christian, I am called to lay down my life and follow Jesus. He has called me to step out in faith to serve him by going on this incredible missions trip. It is more than just 11 months of traveling and helping those in need. God transforms lives. I have been experiencing some drastic changes in my life over the past two years as I have grown in my faith journey. Hopefully you’ve been able to witness this transformation, and I can clearly see now that God has been preparing to send me out. Even though I will miss the comforts of home (and you!), I will be on mission for God, and there isn’t anything more important in this world.
The world is an incredible place, and with your help I will have the opportunity to be God’s hands and feet to reach people in these countries: India, Nepal, South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Latvia, Estonia, Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
Romans 10:15
I will face many challenges all throughout the World Race, but as I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is my financial support. Like most other missions organizations, World Race participants are required to fundraise financial support In order to leave fully funded on July 1, 2015, I have must meet the following financial deadlines:
$3,500 – Due 9/27/2014 (2 weeks before Training Camp)
$7,500 – Due 12/18/2014 (2 weeks prior to your trip)
$11,000 – Due 4/1/2015 (End of 3 months on the field)
$16,242.60 – Total Due 7/1/2015
Thank you!
Laura
