A Race Ministry Day in Bucheresti, Romania (Bolintin-Deal)
It’s the horror stories we’ve heard from years ago. Orphanages full of children, low on finances and low on staff. Babies never being held, children being abused in everyway, children being tied up in their cribs. Unspeakable horror. This is how some orphanges were ran in poor Eastern European countries.
What happens to these orphans when they turn 18? In Romania, and many other countries, they are put out on the street with their meger possesions to fend for themselves. While this may work for some orphans, it doesn’t for many.
I’ve been working all month with the Jubilee House in Bolintin Deal, a small town outside of Bucherest, Romania. Jubilee House is a Christian organization that houses 27 women who they took in off the street. They all grew up in orphanges and because of the situations they had to live in all they each have a varying degrees of mental disabilites. Each are behind emotionally too.
All of the woman are between the ages of 27-31. Most of the girls have been at the home for ten years. The home provides them with nice bedrooms, 2 full meals everyday, clothes and all of their other necesities. Because they are handicapp most girls also receive a small monthly pension which is handed out to them by their social worker, Gina. 10 girls are starting to do well enough that they live in small apartments in the back of the property. They may even be able to get jobs cleaning or doing minial labor.
Nelu and his wonderful wife run the home and are great examples of how to reach out and help the lost. And now the girls home has been blessed to welcome the Bale family this past May who has moved here permantly to work with these girls and serve this ministry.
