blue nail polish & a big red chair
So I’m sitting in Starbucks in a big red chair yet again catching up on my squads devotions. We are on the book of Acts now and while we are all so far apart we read a chapter a day then discuss it on blogs. It’s wonderful to already be as close as we are and to have so many things in common. I write in my Bible, usually it’s where I was when I read that certain passage and the date, if it was a teaching done by someone I’ll write that too. As I read Acts 1-4, I see that last time I read Acts 2, I was at IHOP and Derek Loux preached on it (8-07). Derek passed away Dec 23 in a car accident and reading his name in my devotions was a surprise. But what he  pointed out was this scripture which is kinda like the ultimate description of community. “Everyone around was in awe- all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the belivers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person’s needs were met.” Acts 2 It’s going to be hard living in such close quarters with a team for a whole year. Day in and day out with the same people. But if we follow God’s leading , we will become a family. Learning God’s patience and love as we put others needs before our own.  So thanks Derek for teaching me something even when you’re in heaven- it’s pretty crazy! I also have teal blue nail polish on as a reminder to walk 1-4 miles everyday, I’m not allowed to take it off until January 24… then I should wear bright yellow nail polish…
Love you all, Laura
