As you have all seen, last month I celebrated my birthday in Thailand, while we were all in small teams. My mom had sent me some plastic gold medals for the whole squad. They were funny and just something fun to wear on my birthday (yes, she sent other more “real” gifts too). However, our squad wouldn’t be together, so what could we do? I decided for my birthday I would really like each team to wear their medals and take a team photo for me. So here is what happened.
The boys team out in the jungle remembered! This was most impressive, since they say the photo was actually taken on the right day. Although some of them had lost the medals already, the point is they thought about me, and remembered my request.
This is Eli, Kelton, Steve, Robby and Nate.
The other guy team did not take their medal photo, however, I did get a text message from them, so I know that they remembered my birthday (even if it was right before they fell asleep).
The girls team in Pattaya remembered my birthday by sending a text message, and taking an entire photo shoot of themselves with the medals. Here they are:
This is Tammy, who was sick with dengue fever, and she still participated in the festivities.
Patrice and Andi
Meredith
Angie (who was the clear winner with 3 medals). She also sent ahead of time with Gretchen cookies and a letter for me on my birthday.
Their translator Dawn even got in on the fun.
The other girls team did not take a photo because they were traveling at the time and so did not have their medals with them. They did call and sing happy birthday and talk to me for a little bit though. Michelle also sent a letter ahead of time with Gretchen.
Last but not least is my fabulous team. There was no way our team could forget. The girls drew and hung up pictures for me while I was sleeping, and you have seen the pictures of the balloons and the fun things we did that day.
Sarah, Rubie, Gretchen, me and Jen.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures of us wearing the medals Mom!
We are now in Vietnam, and some are in Hong Kong. There are lots of great things going on here, and I am really enjoying myself.
