Sunday May 11 was World Prayer Day and so we spent the day with the Rudolph’s going to their church (which is in a tent in the backyard) and praying.  What happened was we were given a topic of prayer, and then we either split into small groups and prayed, or prayed as a large group international style (all at the same time) and sometimes 5 people from the large group would pray.  We were told that there were 30 topics and that made us all a little overwhelmed.  The topics included healing of our land, our government, the leaders of the church, salvation for the unsaved, unity among families and the body of Christ, repentance and grace and mercy, and for the poor and needy.  As it turned out, God showed up and had His own way as usual.
I wasn’t particularly looking forward to praying ALL day, especially after the first topic took about 20 minutes, and I knew there were 29 more to go.  I was in a small group without any of my teammates, and Jako had made me the group leader.  What excitement I had felt for the day was slowly dwindling.  But then as we had more and more topics (by the end we had only completed 7) I was more and more energized to pray for these things that are important to pray for, but I forget about a lot of the time.  As we prayed one topic stood out in particular to me.  God really put it on my heart that day to pray for healing of our land.  I took this to mean the government and many different aspects of Canada.  Please join in my prayer with me, and really take to heart the importance of it.

Jesus we need you in Canada.  Come heal our land.  We need you to protect us.  We continue to become more and more secularized, and it’s a scary thought to live in a country without your covering.  Our anthem says right in it “God keep our land” and God I ask you to continue to keep our land.  Don’t forget about us, even as we forget about you.  Protect us from laws that go against your will.  We strive for equality, and God we don’t want to be judgmental, but God we also do not want to make legal the things you have said are wrong.  God we pray against legal abortions, homosexual marriages and the legalization of marijuana.  Raise up Christian politicians.  Raise up Spirit filled men and women who can bring your will to our nation.  Guide the leaders that we already have in place, and continue guiding any new leaders.  Also, I pray that you would convict the apathy of the Christians during the voting process.  Help us all to recognize the importance of being informed citizens so that we may bring about your will to our country.  Give us the courage to stand up for what we know is right.  Send your revival to Canada.  Sweep across our nation so thoroughly and intensely that we can all see your glory and recognize it as you.  Bring us back from the pits of secularization, set our hearts on fire for you.  Heal our land of our transgressions against other nations.  Forgive us for allowing the poverty to continue around the world, as we sit like kings in our wealth.  Forgive us for not sharing our wealth even within our country to those without homes, and those who are living with nothing.  GOD KEEP OUR LAND!  Give those words meaning as we sing them.  Let us recognize that when we sing we are singing to you.  Give us a passion for you that is stronger than our patriotism, but give us a country that is worth being proud of.  Improve our international relations, let us be a light to the world.  Give us your grace, and your forgiveness.  Jesus bring us, as a nation, into fellowship with you.  Thank you for giving us freedom, thank you for what you are already doing in Canada.  God continue to cover us with your protection.  We thank you and love you.  In Jesus’ name Amen

Throughout the day God really changed my heart.  By the end I felt fulfilled and satisfied.  This was a day that God did His work, quietly, through a subtle change in heart and attitude.
