We had an excellent time in Mozambique, and now we are back in South Africa for a couple of days before we head to Swaziland on Tuesday for debrief.  God has done a lot for us this past week.

God protected us through our travels.  We ended up not getting the bus we planned as it was overbooked, and so took a different bus that left at midnight.  In the meantime we were at the mall with all of our luggage, and at around 10 we took a taxi to a random gas station to wait the 2 hours for the bus.  Then we drove an hour and a half to the border where we slept on the bus until 6 am when the border opened.  God proctected us through all of the sketchiness and He watched our stuff that was in a trailor on the back of the bus as well.

After 21.5 hours on the bus we finally arrived in Vilanculos, Mozambique.  We met our lovely contacts there, the Rudolph family.  Jako and his wife Maria have 2 children, Rudo and Maggie and three dogs, Tinkerbell, Lady, and Jack.  We stayed at their home a few of the nights that we were there.

The day we arrived Jako (our contact) found a translator for us.  It turned out that the area we were going to spoke a different language than his usual contacts.  Jako had never been to this area before and it was really exciting.  The day we arrived he found out that Vilanculos (the city is named after his family) spoke the language we needed, he is a Christian and would be willing to come with us to the bush and translate.  He is a 70 year old man and stayed with us in tents.  Once we arrived in the bush we were going to scout it out and waved down a guy on a motorcycle who was passing us on the road.  After talking with him for a little while Jako and Vilanculos came back to the car and announced that the man worked with the government and would be willing to have us pitch our tents outside his home.  He also gave us permission to show the Jesus film in the field next to his house (which happened to also be beside a mosque).  He was really nice to us and very helpful and a definate “God did”.

We showed the Jesus film two nights in a row, in different locations.  The second time we drove down a dirt road, past mud huts, and landmine fields and arrived at a mud school building where we showed the film in the school field.  Both nights many people accepted Christ, and we also prayed for healing for many people.  Next month another AIM team will be spending 2 months in this area to disciple them and teach them more about God and Christian living.

God did many more things for us this week- and I will be posting more blogs about it so stay tuned!
