For the last two weeks we were in Nauta Peru, living on a boat on one of the tributary rivers of the Amazon. We had some awesome adventures and our boat was pretty cool as well. We had some pretty cool ministries while we were there, as well.
Hilter´s family
One day as Angie and I were on a prayer walk/prayer sit on the bench Hilter and his wife came over and started talking to us, because they saw our Bibles sitting between us. Hilter speaks very good English so he translated for his wife. They were very interested in God, and had heard a lot about him. After seeing our Bibles they thought we could tell them something. So we talked with him for a while, and invited him to the church service that evening. Throughout the week he came to various services, and brought his daughter to Fiest Con Dios as well. One morning Angie, Matt and I went out for coffee with the family as well, to explain more about God, and to learn more about his family. Hilter really wants to be a translator for missionaries. On Sunday night at church the whole family asked Jesus to be their Saviour.
Graciella
Rubie and I took a walk one day out of Nauta. We crossed a bridge and just followed the road. It was an adventure into more jungly parts. As we were on our way back we stopped to talk to a girl, Guadaloupe, who asked us to come pray for her mother because she was sick. When we went inside the little shack house we found Graciella moaning on a hammock in the kitchen. She had an absyss or something in her head and it had been giving her a lot of pain for 5 days. We prayed for her, and then went and brought Crystal our translator to pray and speak to them as well. We read from Romans 8 to her, and encouraged her to study it as well. She had a New Testament there, and sounded as though she was already a Christian, but not sure exactly how it works. We convinced her that she wasn´t sick because of her sins. The next day we went back and she was walking around and really excited to see us! She was so happy for missionaries to come visit her, because she said they never go out there. Unfortunately the day after she had to be admitted to the hospital, because he absyss was moving up into her head. However, Rubie and I were able to clean the kitchen room and bring food to Guadaloupe and her brother while Graciella was in the hospital. She has since gone back home, feeling better, but without the money to go to a doctor in Iquitos as was recommended to her. Please keep her in your prayers.
We held our Vacation Bible School most days that we were in Nauta. From 3-5 the kids would play games, sing songs, watch a skit and learn a memory verse. A couple of times we provided crayons and paper to draw on. They were split into teams and I was in charge of the Amarillo (yellow) team, along with Magen and Steve.
